Your influencers- such as spouse or adult children can be incorporated into planning sessions that you decide are appropriate. There is no advance preparation you must do for this meeting. It is an easy conversation. You don’t even have to take notes. After the call, we will send you an email outlining any next action items.
Confidentiality
During the call we will touch on the topic of confidentiality but for now we advise you to not mention your plans to anyone. If you are selling a house, it is great to tell everyone you know of your plans. On the other hand, if you are considering selling your business, it is best that this information remains confidential. Why? Telling others can lead to a loss of employees and customers and result in netting fewer dollars at closing.
A common mistake sellers make is assuming it is ok to tell their close circle of friends and acquaintances. We advise not telling your fishing buddies, hair stylist, church family, company’s suppliers or vendors or anybody else in your orbit. It is the safest, most conservative approach to value preservation.
